The first Qatar IV was hosted jointly by Georgetown University SFS-Q, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, and Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar on November 4th, 2017. The debating societies at these respected universities were motivated to put together this initiative as a way to have greater freedom with debating motions relative to the region, strengthen community ties between student debaters and debating societies at our universities, and gain the valuable experience that comes with hosting and adjudicating our own tournament.

This tournament was a great success with valuable contributions from all of those involved in organizing, debating, and adjudicating. We had the pleasure of welcoming students from a variety of institutions, both from within and outside of Education City.

On behalf of the core adjudication team, we'd like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone involved that day, and we look forward to welcoming you to the next Qatar IV hosted in January 2018.
